i’ve had this for a while now, but i like the meaning behind it.  the black swan theory, by definition, is “the disproportionate role of high-impact, hard to predict, and rare events that are beyond the realm of normal expectations”.

it helps me to remember the stranger things that have happened to me in my life, and how they changed me, and helped me become who i am today.  and the cycle will only continue as my life goes on.

My first tattoo, a Shel Silverstein illustration from Where the Sidewalk Ends. Silverstein has had a huge impact on my life and my art, so this honors him.

My first tattoo, from ‘The Dark Tower’ series, by Stephen King, the photo was taken 2 days after it was done.

The symbol represents ‘Ka’, a word that signifies life-force, consciousness, duty and destiny.

Ka is a wheel’, as explained in ‘The Dark Tower: A concordance’ by Robin Furth:

“Ka is a wheel; its one purpose is to turn. The spin of ka always brings us back to the same place, to face and reface our mistakes and defeats until we can learn from them. When we learn from the past, the wheel continues to move forward, towards growth and evolution. When we don’t, the wheel spins backward, and we are given another chance. If once more we squander the opportunity, the wheel continues its rotation towards devolution, or destruction.’

I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my life, but i learned something from every one of them, so this tattoo is a reminder that i need to keep the wheel moving forward.

It was done by Christian @ http://www.americantattoo.com.ar/ , Buenos Aires, Argentina.
